Altstadt Brewery :: A Taste of Bavaria in Texas

Beer drinkers, REJOICE! You now have an option to drink something other than wine on 290! Altstadt is the newest brew destination in the Fredericksburg area, although they’ve been bottling and selling their beers for a while before the opening of their tasting room. The Fredericksburg locals have been waiting a while for the brewery to open, and finally we get to enjoy the taste of Bavaria in our own backyard! Cheers to local brews!

Altstadt was modeled with a heavy Bavarian architectural influence. The dark woods make you feel as if you’ve entered some sort of lodge run by Gaston (Disney reference) and the biergarten area is full of community style seating - which makes it perfect for hanging out with friends and family. They also have a kitchen, so don’t forget your appetite!

Their menu of brews is diverse, which is ideal for larger parties (with differing pallets). I shared two flights of their brewery exclusive beers, most of which were on the lighter side. (And my favorite ended up being the darkest beer on the menu - I’m partial to stouts). And, honestly, I could have spent the better half of my afternoon in their courtyard. If you didn’t KNOW you were in Fredericksburg, you might think you were in Germany!

PROST!
