Simple Espresso Martini Recipe

IMG_7164.jpeg

The espresso martini: a cocktail for a coffee lover who wants to keep up with the party. And who doesn’t love a good espresso martini? This was one of the first cocktails I ordered on my 21st birthday (dessert!). My 21-year old self felt like holding a martini glass was the gateway to adulthood. Coffee AND alcohol?!? This cocktail is boozy, yet will do the opposite of making you sleepy. And, you feel extra bougie drinking out of a martini glass.
While George and I were on our honeymoon, we’d grab an espresso martini after eating ourselves into a food coma at dinner. It was a great way to end the evening - the perfect nightcap. After coming back from Mexico, we wanted to try our cocktailier hand at creating this fab favorite.
Thankfully this recipe is fairly easy to whip together. I’m also a fan of cinnamon, so I added a healthy dash of the sweet spice.

RECIPE

2 oz vodka

1.5 oz coffee liquor

0.5 oz simple syrup

3 oz fresh (hot!) espresso

Dash on cinnamon

DIRECTIONS

Add ice to a shaker. Pour in the vodka, coffee liquor, simple syrup (substitute for extra coffee liquor if you’re feelin’ it), a dash of cinnamon and pour over the fresh espresso. Shake well! FUN FACT: The foam comes from the hot espresso hitting the ice. Pour into a chilled martini glass and garnish with coffee beans and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Cheers!
